Ford Australia is once again upping the pricing of Ranger utes.

UPDATE, 17/09/2023 – Ford Australia is hiking Ranger pricing by up to $1200. The increases will come into effect for all vehicles produced from January 1, 2024.

“All existing orders that are contracted as of September 15 and that have production allocated will be price protected,” said a spokesperson for Ford Australia.

“These price adjustments for Ranger and Everest are a result of our regular evaluation of market conditions across our product portfolio, which take into consideration a number of different external factors such as currency and material cost considerations.”

The Ford Ranger lineup will soon start from $36,880 before on-road costs for the XL single cab-chassis 4×2, and extending to $89,190 before on-roads for the Raptor.

There are no specification changes to correspond with these price increases. Ford didn’t detail any at the last round of price increases, either.

The Ford Ranger is currently the second top-selling vehicle in Australia with a total of 37,644 examples delivered year-to-date. It trails narrowly behind the Toyota HiLux (38,525 YTD) on the VFACTS sales charts.

Drivetrains

The 2024 Ford Ranger is available with a choice of four different turbocharged powertrains ranging from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder single turbo-diesel, to a fire-breathing 3.0-litre twin-turbo petrol V6.

Standard on the entry-level XL is a 2.0-litre four-cylinder single turbo-diesel engine with 125kW of power and 405Nm of torque. This is mated exclusively to a six-speed automatic transmission and is available in two- and four-wheel drive configurations.

Available on the rest of the range, excluding the Raptor, is the 2.0-litre four-cylinder Bi-Turbo diesel engine producing 154kW (150kW in the Wildtrak X) and 500Nm. This is mated to a 10-speed automatic with two- and four-wheel drive configurations, depending on the variant.

The 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine, which produces 184kW and 600Nm, is available in XLT, Sport, Wildtrak and Platinum variants. This is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, with drive sent through a full-time four-wheel drive system.

The flagship Ranger Raptor is powered by a 3.0-litre EcoBoost twin-turbo V6 petrol engine producing 292kW and 583Nm.

Depending on the Ranger variant, there are a variety of drive modes that change the vehicle’s throttle response, gearshifts, traction control and ABS. These include the following:

  • Normal
  • Eco
  • Sport
  • Tow/Haul
  • Slippery
  • Mud/Ruts (off-road use)
  • Sand (off-road use)
